Friends—

Reformed Journal Books is publishing three books in 2025, and we’re delighted to be able to offer them as our “But Wait, There’s More” gift for donors. Each of these books comes from an author who has written often for the Reformed Journal.

Since each book is in development, we don’t have book covers to show yet, and each has a working title that may or may not be what winds up being the final title.

Here are the books:

The Traveler’s Path, by Doug Brouwer, a (mostly) retired pastor who in the last years of his ministry served two churches in Switzerland and another church in the Netherlands. This book is more than a travel book, it’s a book about the possibilities for spiritual transformation through travel. Doug’s book will be released early in 2025.

Green Street in Black and White: A Chicago Story, by Dave Larsen, is an autobiographical novel about white flight in the Englewood neighborhood of Chicago in 1962. Although Dave’s novel is about a very serious subject, it has moments of great humor, since much of the action in the neighborhood, a Christian Reformed Church, and a Christian school is seen through the eyes of a 12-year-old boy. Dave’s book will be released by late winter.

Grounded, by Christy Berghoef, contains Christy’s reflections after coming home to the West Michigan farm she was raised on after leaving a fast-paced life in Washington, DC. It’s a book that celebrates the land—in some ways it echoes Wendell Berry—and the goodness of creation. Christy’s book will be released in the spring.

You will love these books.

Please note we’ve made some small tweaks to the “But Wait, There’s More” program this year.

As always, these books will be sent to anyone who gives $300 or more between now and the end of 2024. In addition, books will also be sent to those who enroll (or are already enrolled) to give a monthly gift of at least $25 in 2025.

Finally, we’ve had to make an adjustment for Canadian readers because of the exchange rate and international shipping costs. The dollar requirement for those giving using Canadian funds is $400 or at least $35 a month. The three books will be mailed together in the spring to Canadian donors.
