From my mother blue eyes
watching from the fringes
like a rabbit in long grass

From my father thin brows
raised & veering with dreams
& schemes

From my heavenly Master
good hunger
From the Spirit a call
From the Son his death’s conquest
an eternity of deep love
& green pastures

  1. So good.
The formatting keeps pulling me back to read it out loud with different emphasis and rhythm.
    Thank you.

  2. Lovely! I particularly enjoyed the circular ending – the way your green pastures hearkened back to the long grass.

  3. I love the way this poem gathers together what you have…a sparse but concise reconning; each nod builds both an exquisite uniqueness and a sense of what you will hold forever.
