It says right there in Amos chapter eight:
“The time is surely coming,” says the Lord,
“When I will send a famine on the land.
No, not a hunger for some bread, or thirst
For water, but of hearing my own words.”
And going on, the Bible says some more:
“The people will be staggered, wandering
From sea to sea to seek my missing words
While all their beautiful young women and
Their beautiful young men will groan and faint,
Thirsting for what no longer can be found.”
I thought, How can this be?—and I felt thirsty.
